Kevin A. González was born in Puerto Rico and holds MFA degrees from the University of Wisconsin (in poetry) and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop (in fiction). His first poetry collection, Cultural Studies, was a 2010 Paterson Poetry Prize finalist. González was awarded the 2011 Narrative Prize for best work published by a new writer. The prize was given for his stories “Cerromar,” which won First Place in the 2010 Narrative30Below Contest, and “Christmas Eve,” the First Place winner of the 2011 Winter Story Contest. González lives in Wisconsin.
