Poem of the WeekLillian-Yvonne Bertram

Lillian-Yvonne Bertram is a poet and photographer, born in White Plains and raised in Buffalo, New York. She received a bachelor’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University before earning an MFA in creative writing from the University of Illinois. Her poetry manuscripts have been finalists for the Cave Canem Poetry Prize, the Saturnalia Books Poetry Prize, and several others. In addition, Bertram’s poem “I Was a Barking Dog” won Second Place in Narrative’s Second Annual Poetry Contest. She lives in Williamstown, Massachusetts, where she is the Gaius Charles Bolin Fellow in English at Williams College.
