A Story

by W. Andrew Ewell

Joey's story reflected through his mother's reflection of his story is delightful, delicate, and understated. Joey's distance from "the truth" has just enough space around him to resonate loudly into the unspoken.

I love this.

Good story. This reminds me of "Reunion," a John Cheever story. I wonder if Ewell had consciously modeled his story on Cheever's or was influenced by it. The last sentence in both stories sound similar and both deal with missing fathers in some regard.

A wonderful work that stays with me.
