Top Five Stories: 2012–2013

Three new writers and two well-established ones are represented in our top five Stories of the Week from the past year. The story lines range from adolescent preoccupation with sex and death, to a sister’s distress over her sibling’s wedding, to an orphan’s search for belonging, to a family struggling with economic downturn, and to a civilian massacre in a war zone—all these threads and more engage and beguile us in these stories. We’re grateful to be able to share the moments of wonder and awe created by each of the five authors.

If you would like to send a story for consideration as a Story of the Week, please see our guidelines. Each September the Top Five Stories are selected for special notice.

Congratulations to the winners. Each receives a $400 award.
