Maya Pindyck grew up in Newton, Massachusetts, and Tel Aviv. She is the author of the poetry collection Friend among Stones and the chapbook Locket, Master. A finalist in Narrative’s Third Annual Poetry Contest, Pindyck is also a visual artist, educator, and doctoral candidate at Columbia University’s Teachers College.

of wood & wires,
old woman
thrown over the earth,
you come hot,
scratching at the throat,
marching between
one blazing Arab &
one crazy Jew.
