Poem of the Week

James Galvin is the author of several poetry collections, including As Is (Copper Canyon Press, 2009), as well as the acclaimed prose meditation The Meadow and a novel, Fencing the Sky. Galvin lives in Laramie, Wyoming, where he works as a rancher, and in Iowa City, where he is a faculty member of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

Treasure Island

I felt like I was sending the wrong signal
From the lighthouse.
Amnesiac waves swashbuckled in
From where pirates keelhauled the ne’er-do-well.
As usual, I was the last to know.
