Father’s Day

How interesting when it suddenly
becomes the third Sunday in June.
No phone calls, just the day that came before.
How interesting when the celebration stops,
like a sparrow hitting a sliding-glass door,
along with the birthdays and anniversaries,
the call for parties and cards and presents.
