Arne Weingart is the author of three poetry collections, Levitation for Agnostics, Unpractical Thinking, and Concentration, and the winner of the Robert Frost Foundation Poetry Competition. A graduate of Dartmouth College, he received an MFA in writing from Columbia University. He lives with his wife in Chicago, where he is the retired principal of a graphic design firm.

Something has died,
we’re not sure what, although we have our theories and suppositions,
and the smell of death,
once it gets inside your nose, is unmistakable.
So cover the mirrors,
bring every chair, stool, and cushion into a single room.
Clear a table
