Louis Menand is widely considered the foremost modern scholar of American studies. He is the author of several works, including The Marketplace of Ideas (2010), American Studies, and most notably The Metaphysical Club: A Story of Ideas in America, winner of the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for History and the Francis Parkman Prize. Menand is the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of English at Harvard. He lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Rebecca Kaden was born in New York City in 1986 and graduated from Harvard University, where she studied English and American literature and language. Kaden is the special projects editor at Narrative and lives in San Francisco.
