Many of Rick Bass’s stories are reminders of the consequences of territorial incursions of one species upon another. Here man in one of his most animal states is absurdly at the mercy of a beast making free with a human necessity just out of human reach. The recording is of a portion of a longer story that Rick excerpted for the Narrative Night Seattle reading in 2006.
