Alice Hoffman was born in New York City and published her first novel, Property Of, when she was twenty-one and still a student in the writing program at Stanford University. Since then she has become a prolific writer, the author of numerous novels, including The Invisible Hour (Atria, 2023), Practical Magic; At Risk; Here on Earth, an Oprah Book Club selection; and The Museum of the Extraordinary. She has also published collections of short fiction, books for children and young adults, and several screenplays. Hoffman lives near Boston.
