Emily Flake was raised in Manchester, Connecticut, and attended the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore. Her illustrations and cartoons have been nationally published, and she is the illustrator of the popular Dangerous Book for Dogs and Devious Book for Cats. Flake is the author and illustrator of These Things Ain’t Gonna Smoke Themselves, for which she received a Prism Award for her portrayal of tobacco addiction. In addition, she writes and illustrates a weekly comic strip entitled Lulu Eightball. Flake lives in Brooklyn.
