Gregory Clyde, First Place winner of Narrative’s 2026 Spring Story Contest, is the author of When the Smoke Lifts: Infantry Principles for Life & Legacy. A US Army combat veteran, he served with the 101st Airborne Division, including deployments to Kosovo and Iraq. He holds an MA in English and creative writing; a BS in organizational security and management; and associate degrees in administration of justice and political science. He lives in Kentucky with his family.
