Katie Cortese grew up on Cape Cod and received an MFA from Arizona State University and a PhD from Florida State (2012). Her story “The Promised Land” won Third Place in Narrative’s Spring 2011 Story Contest. Cortese lives in Tallahassee, where she is also an editor.
