Pierce Scranton

Pierce Scranton is an orthopedic surgeon and the author of Playing Hurt: Treating the Warriors of the NFL. Born in Joliet, Illinois, he graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and earned a doctorate in orthopedic surgery from the University of Pittsburgh. In recognition of his mission in Vietnam to aid disabled children and landmine victims, he received the Kenyon College Humanitarian Service Award.
