Renée Thompson was born in Washington and raised in Japan. She attended California State University at Sacramento, majoring in environmental resources. Along with her husband, a wildlife biologist, Thompson has traversed the United States, settling on or near wildlife refuges in Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Texas, Virginia, and Georgia. Her fiction is set in the American West. She lives in Folsom, California, with her husband and two daughters. Her first novel is The Bridge at Valentine (Tres Picos Press, 2010).
