The River Merchant’s
Answer to His Wife

by Tim Mayo

This touches my soul.

Such great emotion in such simple language, beautifully written. "The silk flag of your sleeve," "calling me to the slim ivory of your wrist," and the "small piece of silence waiting in the dark for its sound." Such wonderful language here that conveys so much from narrator to his beloved. Lovely poem!

Beautiful! Thank you for the moment . . .

Your poem's theme and style reminds me of Robert Frost. That is quite a compliment!

The River Merchant's Wife always brings tears to my eyes—and so does your reply.

Like all good poems, it's all about the nouns.
