I love the love and emotion that Shann is able to portray in his essay. His love for his family, his hometown and his state. He expresses with great clarity that he is who he is because of these experiences that guided him and and caused pain in his most vulnerable years. The simplicity of his words make his essay beautiful and profound.
I have lived in Montana for ten years and still feel like a stranger. Reading Shann Ray helps a lot because what makes him care about the people here, about the state, makes me understand how much I need to try harder. I wish everybody in Montana would read Shann. I wish he lived on my block.
