Sitting in a cottage in St. Mary's Georgia as I read "History Lessons." Today we took a tour of the city, learned about the wars: revolution, 1812, and civil. Heard about settlers, battles, and saw the restored Methodist and Presbyterian churches that Union soldiers torched on evacuating the city. Learned that St. Mary's was so egalitarian that blacks and whites were buried in the same cemetery, separate, but equal?
