I heard about Weegee Stories on NPR while driving home this evening. I've always been fascinated with Weegee pictures, and with the enigmatic Weegee himself. The stories are perfect. Hurray for the shout-out on NPR.

I enjoyed the story. I thought it nicely enhanced the feeling of the photo. Using the oldest child as the protagonist really worked for me. Casting this innocent as the family protector when she appears so in need of care herself is heartrending, but plausible nonetheless. A truly haunting interpretation that is very emotionally evocative.

I loved the Weegee Stories, the intersection of visual art and prose with a poetic sensibility. Awesome.
