What a finely etched and resonant story. I found myself envying those boys in the choir school, how they live in the music they sing. But then the story is about a Halloween dance, and children needing to advance in a new kind of play, that stiff dance that they are all eventually taken into and moved by, heading toward grownup notions, conquering fears and ending in joy.

It was late sitting at my laptop planning to go to bed in a moment but coming across this enticing title Dance I started to read. And carried by the momentum quickly forward, enjoying the unique structure, the phrasing, the feelings of the characters, it was all pretty wonderful. Thank you, Kurt Beattie. I hope to read more by you.
