Katie Chase was born in 1980 and grew up outside Detroit. She received her BA from the University of Michigan and an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where she was a Teaching-Writing Fellow and a Provost’s Post-Graduate Writing Fellow. Her fiction has been published in Best American Short Stories and was awarded a Pushcart Prize, and her story “Every Good Marriage Begins in Tears” won Third Place in Narrative’s Winter 2010 Story Contest. Chase lives in San Francisco.
