Morning

I have a maple in the yard and from time to time
all is distant, all filters into shapeless objects.
I have a mysterious maple, like a sunken city
and my gaze becomes its leaves, its shadow stretched
half in the street, half in the garden
the light of each day
where voices merge and disperse.
