Rick Bass’s “Titan” is the tale of two brothers, one who is “content in the continued savagery of his hunger” and one who is uncomfortable with excess; instead of money and success he hungers for closeness with others. The story is infused with nostalgia for a simpler time, while sharply critiquing a lifestyle of “too much gluttony and not enough humility.” Bass read this story at Narrative Night in Denver, 2007.
