On the heels of winning the 2005 Narrative Prize for her story “Famous Fathers,” at our New York City Narrative Night Pia read stories that skirt the turbulent landscape of human emotion. The quiet restraint Pia reveals in her storytelling is not unlike the levees in New Orleans, where she lives, holding back but ultimately releasing a transformative power.
